Quality assurance and consideration for the surroundings

Sustainable demolition - responsibility and innovation

At VLZS, sustainability is key. We adopt a process-based approach where reuse, recycling and innovative techniques ensure minimal environmental impact. Although sustainable demolition has no legal obligation, we have embedded this within our organisation through our SVMS-007 certification.

Reuse and circular materials

In our demolition projects, a large proportion of the released materials are put to new uses. This is done both directly and through processing, converting them into high-quality new products.

Examples include:

  • Masonry and concrete processed into aggregates and used in new concrete products.
  • Wood recycled into chips, pellets or reused in renovation work.

Through this circular approach, we reduce waste and actively contribute to sustainable construction.

Investing in electric equipment and CO₂ reduction

Our equipment and fleets are largely electric or hybrid, which significantly reduces carbon emissions and saves energy. We also work with alternative and environmentally friendly lubricants, making our processes more sustainable and efficient.

Smart waste management and energy saving

VLZS actively works to reduce waste through careful design and procurement. The remaining waste is already separated at source. Our work sites exclusively use LED lighting and electric equipment. Since 2006, our earth-moving machines have been converted from diesel to electric drive, allowing us to work more cleanly and efficiently.

In separate processing, we use electric forklifts for waste management and hydraulic equipment that does not cause smoke, fire or odour. Our hydraulic stone and concrete pulveriser works with water atomisation, minimising human and environmental impact.

Expanding waste streams - working accurately and responsibly

Whereas traditional demolition companies work with five waste streams, VLZS has expanded this to 50. This requires precision and craftsmanship, but contributes to more sustainable processing of materials.

Choosing a sustainable chain

Because of the way we work, we fit within a circular economy. Materials from demolition go back to producers, meaning no new raw materials have to be mined. This lowers the impact on the environment and helps us conserve natural resources.

At VLZS, we take responsibility for the future of demolition, with sustainability, innovation and reuse at the heart of how we work.
